Altered jar

I realy enjoyed Loekie Flentge's workshop a few weeks ago, where we made a little dresser (click here for the blogpost). I decorated another item with the same technique.

With tissue paper (from a shoe box), glue, paint, a few stamps and lots of stuff from my junk box I decorated a humble glass jar, 9 cm (3,5") high.
Phineas Pinchbeck is a stamp from The Artistic Stamper, the large clockface is from Art Journey.

(tekst: Art Journey)
The nice thing about this technique is that you can also use plastic parts, like the sprockets above, as they will be covered with gesso and paint. (text: Art Journey)

(stempel: Art Journey)
A flattened bottle cap and a ball chain become a pocket watch.(stamp: Art Journey)

Plastic onderdelen...
Plastic parts....

I finished it with Viva Inka Gold Copper.Unfortnately the shine doen't show up too well in the photos, but it is definitely there! The metal parts were coloured with alcohol inks.

The glass on the pocket watch is real spectacle glass.

Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoyed it!

Last saturday a new Art Journey challenge was launched. Anneke chose this month's theme: 75% white. Your card must be for 75% wite, and use mainly Art Journey stamps. On the designteam blog you can read about it here. You have until 27 February to place your project. A randomly chosen participant wins a € 10,- gift certificate!

This is my card. When you visit my blog regularly, you know that this challenge was for me a challenge as well! It was good to make something different and step out of my "comfort zone".
The lady (Silhouette) was heat embossed with clear embossing powder, around the image I sponged with distress inks Broken China and Chipped Sapphire.

On my Pinterest board "Fabric" I once pinned about making fabric flowers. This is the flower I made, from this idea: click

It is made from scraps of jeans, threads, lace and organza.
I die cut the flowers with the Tattered Florals die by Tim Holz.

Whenever I wear this jeans jacket, I wear the flower, otherwise I think it looks so "empty" ;)

Steampunk kastje

Last sunday the members of the Art Journey team made this awesome little cabinet. The workshop was hosted by Loekie Flentge. This is my cabinet:
The base consists of eight match boxes and it is decorated with all kinds of hardware.

I really enjoyed the workshop and went home with lots of ideas!

The very best wishes for a good and creative 2014 for all readers!

Godelieve came up with a lovely theme for the Art Journey challenge this month: scraplings. A scrapling is very slim, tall  card that is great as a label for a gift or as a bookmark. Read all about it here.

Dit zijn mijn bijdragen:
These are my scraplings:

But they may also be landscape-positioned, as this one:

Art Journey stamps: Lady Clock, Roses, Text, Tree, Fairy Tail, Sweet Dreams

Snelle kerstkaarten/ Quick Christmas cards

Of course I started early making all my christmas cards this year:
"Christmas Ball"by Art Journey and Flourish by Artemio

Christms baubles by Papermania (Urban Stamps), Text by Art Journey, Swirly line by Inkadinkado

But as these cost some time to make, as almost every year, I had to make a lot of christmas cards at the last moment :). Every one received a hand made card this year. The cards below were made very quickly:

For these cards I sprayed an A5 card with blue and purple spray inks and sprayed blue glimmermist on top. I cut the card into three equal sections of 7 cm. and stamped the stars and the chrystals with Brilliance gold ink. I sponged the circles with the same ink. I added some white accents with a gel pen, sponged all the edges with purple ink, glued it on a white card base, added text  and my cards were ready! The stamps are freebies from Craft Stamper magazine, text from Art Journey.

The card below took a little longer to make, because I  added white lines and some small circles with my gel pen

Art Journey challenge #40

Time flies. Art Journey's challenge is four days old already. Louise chose the apropriate theme for december: christmas and/or winter. It is our fortieth challenge, reason to give away an extra large prize to our winner! So hop on to our blog and join the challenge for your chance to win! Looking forward to see your project.

To inspire the readers and participants to join the challenge, I made this card:

I stamped the girl with black Versafine and heat embossed the image. I did the same with the branches and the black text:

I masked the girl with a piece of paper and  sponged the card with Victorian Velvet distress ink. With the same colour I sponged through the template, stamped the background text and stamped the branches again between the black ones:

With a tracing wheel and a black pen I added a faux stitched border. I glued it onto a dark red mat and then on a white card: finished!

Stamps:
Noel, Christmas, Curly Frame (all Art Journey)
Old french writing (Hero Arts)
