Our House on a canvas

Al een tijdje had ik een canvas (30 x 30 cm) op mijn werktafel liggen. Het werd de hoogste tijd om er wat mee te doen. Ik stempelde, knipte, plakte en kleurde met dit als resultaat:

I had this canvas (30 x 30 cm) on my work table for a while now. It was about time to use it. I stamped, cut, glued and coloured and this is the result:

Mini ladenkastje

In navolging van zovelen ben ook ik begonnen met het maken van "opdrachtkaartjes" voor het maken van mixed media projecten. De bedoeling is dat je een aantal kaartjes trekt en deze in volgorde afwerkt. Om mijn kaartjes te bewaren versierde ik een simpel kartonnen ladenkastje. Ik gebruikte papier, verf, stencils en stempels om mijn kastje te versieren.

I finally made a bunch of "technique prompts" (is that what they are called?) to use on my mixed media projects. The idea is that you take ten (or any number of) cards and do whatever it says on these cards. I decorated a simple cardboard mini drawer chest to keep my cards in. I used scraps of paper, paint, stencils and stamps to decorate it.

De kaartjes zijn dubbelzijdige gelli prints. Ik sneed ze op maat voor de laadjes. Aan één kant smeerde ik er een dun laagje witte gesso over en schreef de opdrachten er op.

The cards are double sided gelli prints, cut to size to fit in the little drawers. I added a thin layer of white gesso on one side and wrote down the prompts.

 For my english readers: on the cards above it reads "orange/pink", "doodle with a white marker", "add washi tape", "add a border around the page", "do the same as three cards back".

More little birds

De kleine meesjes uit een vorige blogpost (zie hier) hebben gezelschap gekregen van soortgenootjes. Deze keer op een achtergrond van gelato's. De meesjes zijn met carbonpapier overgetrokken op wit papier en daarna ingekleurd en uitgeknipt. Het nest is gemaakt van gebruikte theezakjes.

The little tits from a previous blogpost (here) have got company. This time on a background made with gelato's. The birds themselves were copied with copy paper onto white paper, coloured and cut out.The little nest was made from used tea bags.

Little Birds

De vogeltjes bij ons in de tuin inspireerden me om deze kaarten te maken op een canvas-vel. De achtergrond is gemaakt met acrylverf en stencils. De nestjes zijn van reepjes papier.


The little birds in our garden inspired me to maken these two cards, made on a sheet of canvas.
The background is made with acryllic paint and stencils. The nests are made from pieces of torn paper.

Met ouderwets carbonpapier tekende ik de vogeltjes over van fotootjes van het www. Ja, bij gebrek aan leuke vogelstempeltjes in huis en niet zo veel tekentalent deed ik het zo. Met Inktense potloden trok ik de lijnen over en kleurde de vogeltjes in. Met water maakte ik het aquarel-effect.

With old fashioned copy paper I drew the birds from images I took from the www. As I didn't have suitable birdstamps and little drawing skills I did it this way. With my Inktense pencils I drew over the lines and coloured the birds. With water I turned them into waterpainted birds.

Op een paar kleurtjes papier geplakt en een tekstje toegevoegd en toen waren het ineens kaartjes.
Glued onto some coloured paper, with some text added and they turned into cards.

Meer Art Journey mixed media

Oh, wat geniet ik van het huidige Art Journey thema Mixed Media.  Eindelijk kom ik er toe om mijn gelli printjes te gebruiken die ik tot nu toe op een grote stapel heb liggen. Je hebt gelijk een basis om op verder te gaan, zo leuk!

Oh, I really enjoy this month's Art Journey theme Mixed Media. Now I am using my gelli prints that are piling up. They're a great base to work on!

Ik stempelde de vissen op een oranje gelli print en heb ze een beetje extra gekleurd met Inktense potloden en wat Inka Gold Copper voor een mooie gloed. Ik plakte ze op een blauw-groene gelli print. Voor extra zeebodemgevoel stempelde ik eerst nog op de achtergrond.

I stamped the fish on an orange gelli print and coloured them a little with Inktense pencils. I gave the fish some glow with Inka Gold Copper. I glued the fish onto a blue-green gelli print.  For a more "bottom-of-the-see" feeling I stamped on the background first.

Met een witte en een zwarte Posca acrylverf-pen wat details op de vissen en de luchtbellen getekend.
With a white and a black Posca acryllic marker I drew some accents on the fish and the air bubbles.

Dit is mijn bijdrage. Ik stempelde op stroken schilderstape en bedekte de kaart met snippers daarvan, smeerde gesso en gelato's, verwijderde weer wat met een babydoekje en een stencil, stempelde en kleurde met aquarelpotlood.

This is my take on the challenge. I stamped on painters masking tape, glued down snippets of it to cover the card, smeared gesso and gelatos, removed some using a baby wipe through a stencil, stamped and coloured with watercolor pencil.

Ik stempelde de man rechts zodat ik een schaduwrand kon maken en de uitgeknipte man er over kon plakken. Ik vond de afdruk echter wel interessant dus liet ik het zo en stempelde er nog eentje naast om de man daar wel op te plakken :)

I stamped the man on the right to make a shadow around him, and I wanted to glue the cut out man on top. But I really liked the effect so I stamped the man again a little to the left and glued my cut out man there :)

Paint on canvas

Tijdens mijn vakantie kocht ik (oa) het boek "Art Journal Freedom" van Dina Wakley. Het boek inspireerde me tot het maken van deze kaarten.

While on holiday I bought Dina Wakley's book "Art Journal Freedom". It inspired me to make these two cards.

Ik begon met acrylverf op een canvas vel, verwijderde weer wat verf, voegde nieuwe laagjes toe, stukken boekpapier, sponsde verf door stencils, totdat ik tevreden was.

I started with painting acryllic paint onto canvas sheet, removed some of the paint, added new layers, pieces of book paper, sponged through stencils, until I was satisfied.

De silhouetten komen uit een tijdschrift en zijn zwart geverfd.
The silhouettes were cut out of a womens' magazine and painted black.

Vintage cars tag

Met de nieuwe stempels "Vintage Cars" van Art Journey maakte ik deze tag. De ondergrond is metaalfolie-tape op een tag, ge-embossed in de cuttlebug. Zwarte en bruine verf gaven het oude effect.

With Art Journey's new stamp set "Vintage cars" I made this tag. I adhered metal foil tape to tag and embossed it with my cutlebug. Black and brown paint gave it the aged effect.

Art Journey, new stamps!

Afgelopen weekend werden tijdens de Art Journey-dagen weer twee nieuwe stempelsets onthuld. Hieronder twee voorbeelden met de stempelset "Grasses".
Last weekend at the Art Journey-weekend two new stamp sets were released. Below two examples with the new stamp set "Grasses".

Deze tag is gemaakt met boekpapier, tissuepapier en inka-gold als basis. Op deze manier ontstond een interessante onderwaterwereld. De grassen werden met Stazon Black en Olive green gestempeld.
This tag is made with a base from book papier, tissue paper and inka-gold. This way I created an interesting tactile under water world. I stamped the grasses with Stazon Black and Olive green.

Een ketting hanger, afgewerkt met embossingpoeder.
A pendant, finished with embossingpowder.
