Cats with a smile

Altijd leuk om te maken: grappige kattenkaarten. En de katten van Katzelkraft kun je ook zo heerlijk inkleuren. Ik maakte er twee kaarten mee.

I love to to make funny cat cards. And the Katzelkraft cats are great to colour too. I made two cards with this stamp set.

De eerste is een box card, gemaakt voor een jarige buurvrouw. Ik heb hier gewerkt met design-papiertjes voor de onderste helft van het doosje, iets wat ik zelden doe.

The first one is a card-in-a-box or box card, for a neighbour who had her birthday. I made the bottom half with design paper, something I rarely do.

Op de achterwand zijn cadeautjes, een cupcake en een muis gestempeld. Het is toch wat lastig op de foto te krijgen, de details en lagen op zo'n 3d kaart.

On the background I stamped presents, a cup cake and a mouse. It is difficult to get it all on a picture, all the details on a 3d card.

De tweede is een kaart voor mijn nicht. Elk jaar als onze oma jarig is, krijg ik van haar een zelfgemaakte kaart. Deze heb ik onlangs naar haar gestuurd.

The second one is a card for my cousin. Every year on our grandmother's birthday she brings me a handmade card. I sent her this one in return.

En bij de kaart maakte ik een een versierde envelop, dat is leuk op de mat én voor de postbode!

And with the card I made a matching envelope. That is nice to find on your door mat and for the post man as well!

AJC #70: Muziek/ Music

Op het Art Journey designteam blog is de nieuwe challenge van start gegaan. Liesbeth koos het thema: MUZIEK! Maak je ook een muzikale bijdrage? Op het blog lees je er alles over en zie je voorbeelden van de designteamleden op je op weg te helpen.

Ik was nog helemaal bezig met de vogels en maakte een Art Journal pagina.

I was still totally into the birds and made an Art Journal page.

De basis hiervan is een gelli print. Ik stempelde de bloemen en de vogel er op en daar omheen verfde ik roze, oranje en turquise acrylverf. Met een wolkenmal (diy) en turquise verf de lucht gemaakt. Daarna takken en muzieknoten toegevoegd. Delen van de print kun je nog zien in de bloemen en in de wolken.

The base is a gelli print. I stamped the flower and the bird on it and added pink, orange and turquoise paint arond the images. With a cloud mask (diy) and turquiose paint I made the sky. After that I added the branches and music. You can still see parts of the original print in the flowers and in the clouds.

Kleine mieren marcheren onderaan de pagina. Sommige zijn wat uit de pas.
Ants are marching at the bottom of the page, some of them are a bit ot of tune.

AJC #69: Birds

Het is mei, en de vogels zijn druk bezig om nestjes te bouwen om hun eitjes in te leggen. En daarom past het thema van de Art Journey Challenge zo goed bij deze maand. Het draait namelijk om VOGELS deze maand.

It is the month of May and the birds are busy building nests to lay their eggs in. And that is why this month's Art Journey Challenge is very appropriate. The challenge is all about BIRDS.

De vogel op het nest is gestempeld op een gelli print achtergrond, gemaakt met de 4" ronde plaat en distress inkten. Deze techniek zag ik op de Art Specially-beurs in Nijkerk vorige maand. De vogel en de takken zijn ingekleurd met mijn Derwent Inktense potloden.

My bird on the nest is stamped on a 4" round gelli print I made with distress inks. I saw this technique on the Art Specialyy stamp show in Nijkerk (Nl) last month. I coloured with (of course) my Derwent Inktense pencils.

En  toen ik eenmaal aan de gang was met deze kaart, was het hek van de dam. Een snelle techniek om achtergronden te maken, gecombineerd met mooie inkleur-stempels. Ik heb me heerlijk vermaakt!

And once I made this card, I couldn't stop! A quick background technique, and beautiful images to colour is a great combination! I had a great afternoon!

Art Journey fungi and toadstool

Nieuwe Art Journey stempels, veeeel nieuwe Art Journey stempels! Hieronder twee voorbeelden met de nieuwe paddestoelenstempels.

There are new Art Journey stamps, lots of new Art Journey stamps! Below you can see two tags I made with the new toadstool and fungi stamps.

Hierboven gecombineerd met een oudere stempel op een achtergrond van gesso, distress-inkt, boekpapier en een restje keukenpapier.

Above are the new stamps (combined with an older one) on a background made with gesso, distress inks, book pages and a torn piece of paper towel.

En ook hier gecombineerd met oudere stempels voor een elfen-landschapje. De achtergrond is gemaakt met brushos.

Again combined with older stamps for a fairy landscape. The background is done with brushos.

Ik heb heerlijk zitten kleuren voor deze twee tags! Natuurlijk met mijn Derwent inktense potloden. Deze foto is met mijn telefoon genomen, dus iets minder duidelijk. Mijn excusus daarvoor.
I really enjoyed colouring the images on these tags, I used my favourite Derwent inktense pencils for that. This picture was taken with my phone, hence the poor quality.

Darkroom Door: Brushed Sentiments

Alweer de laatste dag van mijn korte serie kaarten voor Bianca's Toko. Leuk dat je er (weer) bent.
Na twee sets met afbeeldingen laat ik hier zien dat een grote tekst ook heel decoratief is. De grote Brushed Sentiments van Darkroom Door zijn hiervoor zeer geschikt. Alle andere stempels op deze kaarten zijn ook van Darkroom Door.

It's the last day already for my short series of cards I made for Bianca's Toko. So nice of you to drop by (again).
After two days of cards with images I wanted to show you that large sentiments can also be very decorative. The large Brushed Sentiments from Darkroom Door are great for this. All other stamps on these cards are also from Darkroom Door.

Zowel de tekst als de bloemen (Carved Flowers) zijn gestempeld in zwart en met een kleine offset ook in kleur. De achtergrond is gemaakt met brusho.

The sentiment and the flowers (Carved Flowers) are stamped in black, and with a little offset also in colour. The background is made with brusho's.

 Enkel een label en witte bloemen op een bokeh achtergrond (distress inkten en witte pigment inkt)

 Just a label and white paper flowers on a bokeh background. (distress inks and white pigment ink)

De "Carved Birds" gestempeld en uitgeknipt. De tekst is met dezelfde kleuren rechtstreeks op de brusho achtergrond gestempeld.

The "Carved Birds were stamped and cut. The sentiment is stamped directly onto the brusho background, with the same colours.

Grijs, zwart en drie parels met de Perlenpen van Viva op deze condoleancekaart. Bloem (Carved Flowers) en tekst met Stazon "Cloudy Sky", achtergrond (Flower Garden) met Distress "Pumice Stone".

Grey, black and three liquid pearls (Viva Perlenpen) on this sympathy card. Flower (Darkroom Door) and sentiment were stamped with Stazon "Cloudy Sky". Background (Flower Garden) with distress ink Pumice Stone.

Fijn dat je kwam kijken bij deze korte serie. Morgen en zondag kun je deze kaarten zien in Nijkerk op het Art Specially Event. Daarna zijn ze bij Bianca's Toko in Nieuw Weerdinge te zien.

PaperArtsy: Eclectica flowers

Dag twee van mijn serie kaarten voor Bianca's Toko. Fijn dat je er bent. Gisteren heb ik kaarten met robots laten zien, vandaag is het tijd voor bloemen.

It is day two of my series of cards I made for Bianca's Toko. Nice of you to drop by. Yesterday I showed you some cards wih robots. Today it's ime for flowers.

Vandaag weer twee voorbeeldkaarten met nieuwe PaperArtsy stempels, deze keer van de serie Eclectia: ELB26, ontworpen door Lin Brown. Prachtige bloemen, die zich prima lenen voor wat mixed media werk.

Today again some cards with new PaperArtsy stamps, this time from the Eclectica series: ELB26, designed by Lin Brown. Gorgeous flowers, great for some mixed media work.

Op de achtergrond zie je distress inkt, boekpapier, een taartrandje en een bontgekleurd stukje keukenpapier, waarmee al veel kleurtjes inkt zijn opgeveegd. Zo zie je: alles is bruikbaar!

The background is made with distress inks, book paper, a doily and a rainbow coloured piece of kitchen paper, used to mop up many inks. Never waste anything, all can be used again!

Bovenstaande kaart is een stuk eenvoudiger: een paar kleurtjes brusho en wat water zorgden voor de achtergrond. Daaroverheen met diverse kleuren groen de bladeren gestempeld. De struik onderaan is de onderzijde van de bloem, maar dan omgekeerd. Zeer veelzijdig!

The card above was a lot easier to make: a few colours of brusho and some water made the background. On top I stamped the leaves in various greens. The bush at the bottom of the card is the lower part of the flower turned up side down. So versatile!

Ook deze kaarten zijn te zien bij Bianca's Toko op het Art Specially Event komend weekend in Nijkerk.

PaperArtsy: Jofy 44

De komende dagen laat ik elke dag een aantal kaarten zien die ik heb gemaakt voor Bianca's Toko. De kaarten zijn allemaal te zien in haar stand op de Art Specially stempelevent in Nijkerk komend weekend. Zij heeft de gebruikte stempels ook te koop natuurlijk.

In the next three days I am going to show you some cards I made for Bianca's Toko. The cards will be on display in her stand at the Art Specially stamping Event in Nijkerk (NL), this weekend.

Ik maakte een tweetal voorbeeld-kaarten met de leuke nieuwe Jofy-stempels van PaperArtsy: Robotjes! Zo leuk om mee te mogen werken!

I made two cards with the new Jofy stamps from PaperArtsy: Robots! They are so nice to work with and really cute!

Voor deze kaart stempelde ik de robot en de boutjes met zwarte Stazon. Daarna legde ik er een stencil over (TWC) en sponsde ik met grijze distress inkt (Pumice Stone). Met grijs potlood schaduwde ik lichtjes de tandwielen voor wat meer diepte. Het hoofd en het lijfje apart gestempeld, gekleurd, uitgeknipt en opgeplakt, met een paar wiebeloogjes.

I stamped the robot and the bolts with black Stazon. I layed a stencil over it (TWC) and sponged with Pumice Stone distress ink. I made some shadow around the gears with grey pencil to give some more depth. I stamped the robot again, coloured head and body, cut them out and glued them on the stamped image. I added wobbly eyes for a fun effect.

De volgende kaart was iets meer werk om te maken:
My next card took some more time to make:

Ik plakte dun aluminiumtape op cardstock en embosste dat met twee verschillende folders. Zwarte gesso en Rust Paper (Viva) gaven het verweerde uiterlijk. Ook op de gestanste tandwielen (uit zwart cardstock) en de tekstreepjes kwam Rusty Paper.
Het robotje is ingekleurd met mijn heerlijke Inktense Potloden en de achtergrond is lichtjes gesponsd.

I added aluminumtape to cardstock and used two different embossing folders on it. Black gesso and Rusty Paper (Viva) gave it the worn look. I used the Rusty Paper also on the black die cut gears and the text strips.
The robot was coloured with my favourite Inkense pencils and the background is lightly sponged.
